Bilinda Prater, Founder and Owner
Bilinda founded Abernathy Sunshine Academy by first opening the daycare in her home in 2017 before acquiring the current building the daycare is in today. Bilinda had a dream, to provide a safe, fun and education rich environment for the children of Abernathy and surrounding towns. Somewhere where parents could leave their littles ones and know that they are loved and taken care of and she has done just that!
Bilinda has the experience of over 20+ years as a educator in Abernathy High School and Anton High School. She also a Ninny to 2 grandsons and a granddaughter on the way. Needless to say, she loves kids! Meet our fearless leader!
Kirsten Prater, Director/Administration
Kirsten is one of Bilinda’s daughter-in-laws and mother to Jasper Prater. Kirsten onboarded ASA in May 2022 when asked to join the team by Bilinda. Kirsten has 9 years of experience with children and families when she worked for the State of Texas as an Adoption caseworker. Kirsten also has business experience from running her own separate small business for the past 6+ years. Kirsten keeps the business running smoothly with admissions, office work as well as a support to the operation Director. We couldn’t do it without her!
Kayley Aguirre, Operation Director
Kayley Aguirre is the dedicated director of Abernathy Sunshine Academy, where her leadership shines brightly. A resident of Anton, TX, she balances her professional and personal life as a loving mother of four. With five years of experience at the academy, Kayley has become an indispensable part of the team, known for her reliability and commitment to creating a nurturing environment for both children and staff. She expertly manages the day-to-day operations, ensuring that the academy runs smoothly and effectively, all while fostering a sense of community and support. Her passion for early childhood education and her ability to connect with families make her a vital asset to Abernathy Sunshine Academy.
Lucinda Dominguez, Assistant
Lucinda Dominguez is a dedicated and knowledgeable childcare professional who has recently transitioned from her role as the infant teacher to the position of assistant at Abernathy Sunshine Academy. As a mother of three, Lucinda brings a wealth of personal experience and insight into early childhood development. Her promotion reflects her exceptional skills and commitment to nurturing young minds. In her new role, she will be assisting teachers with crafts, overseeing nap time, and providing valuable support to the director. Lucinda’s passion for childcare and her hands-on approach make her an invaluable asset to the academy, ensuring that each child receives the care and attention they deserve.
Lilianna Salinas, Infant Teacher
Lilianna Salinas is a talented infant teacher at Abernathy Sunshine Academy, having joined our team in June 2024. As the daughter of Bonnie Marquez, she brings a natural affinity for working with young children. Lilianna has a special gift for connecting with infants, earning her the affectionate title of “baby whisperer.” Her gentle demeanor and attentive care create a nurturing environment that helps our littlest learners feel secure and happy. We are truly blessed to have Lilianna as part of our academy, where her passion for childcare shines through in everything she does.
Kaegan Vasquez, Infant Teacher
Kaegan is a dedicated educator at Abernathy Sunshine Academy, having joined the team in January 2024 as the teacher for our 3-4 year olds. Her passion for early childhood education and nurturing spirit have made her a beloved figure among both children and staff. Recently, Kaegan has embraced a new challenge as the second infant teacher, where her experience as a mother of two young children shines through. She brings a wealth of knowledge and warmth to the classroom, ensuring that each infant receives the care and attention they need to thrive. Kaegan’s ability to connect with children and create a comforting environment makes her an invaluable member of our academy.
Bonnie Marquez, Toddler Teacher
Bonnie Marquez is a vibrant toddler teacher at Abernathy Sunshine Academy, having joined the team in March 2023. With her warm and engaging approach, Bonnie excels at keeping her energetic group of toddlers happy and healthy. Her creativity and enthusiasm shine through in every activity, as she fosters a positive and nurturing environment for her students. Christina Alvardo, 3-4 year old Teacher
Christina Alvarado is a dedicated and skilled professional with a strong background in both food service and rehabilitation therapy. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she possesses excellent communication skills that enhance her ability to connect with diverse clients and colleagues.
With a strong foundation in both hands-on care and administrative duties, Christina is well-equipped to handle critical situations with composure and efficiency. Her commitment to fostering a supportive environment and her ability to work effectively as part of a team make her a valuable asset in any childcare or therapeutic setting.
